Spinal Decompression In Richardson
Spinal decompression is a comfortable therapy that brings movement into the spinal cord. At Phipps Chiropractic, we recommend this service for anyone diagnosed with a herniated disc or other disc issue.
How It Works
Any swelling in the spinal cord limits the brain’s ability to send messages to the rest of your body. This therapy relieves pressure on the spinal cord by gently stretching your vertebrae.
Since there aren’t any blood vessels going to your discs, they receive all their nutrition from the bones. Insufficient moisture sometimes causes them to deteriorate. Decompression creates a vacuum between the discs, which lets healing fluids rush in. This therapy has tremendous results, especially when paired with chiropractic care.
Comfortable, Relaxing Care
During a session, you’ll lie on your back while we strap one brace around the bottom of your rib cage and another one around your hips. Once the computer is activated for your specific settings, the top brace will hold you still, while the bottom one gently pulls you into a soothing stretch.
You will go through the cycle of pull, hold, and release several times. Dr. Phipps will explain this painless process carefully so you know what to expect. He’ll then stick with you for the first few minutes to help you relax. You stay in control of this therapy, with a shut-off button you can use at any time.
The Power of a Healing Stretch
The process for neck decompression is similar to the method we use for the spine. You’ll lie on your back while a brace pulls your neck, rather than your entire spine.
Dr. Phipps originally bought the decompression machine for himself. He knows how powerful this approach is, since he used it to care for his own spine.
This service costs an additional fee. While a few insurances may cover it, most do not.
